Poet Sarah Edwards and Photographer Brady Beck will be featured on Saturday, December 29th, from 4:30 to 6:30 at One of a Kind Gallery in downtown Southern Pines at 128 West Pennsylvania (Belvedere Plaza). The two will be launching their new book, What the Sun Sees, with poetry by Sarah and nature photography by Brady. Sarah will read poetry from the new book, and Brady will discuss his photography. Time will be set aside for questions and answers. Autographed copies of the books will be for sale at the event. Both Sarah and Brady are well known in the Sandhills area. Sarah, who is now retired and living in Pinehurst with her husband and cat, writes from the experiences of her very diverse background as an ordained pastor, businesswoman, and flight attendant. What the Sun Sees has a poetic voice that speaks with love and energy to our care of the planet and relationships among people. And, on occasion, the poems press the reader to challenge the status quo. Sarah’s writings have appeared in Kakalak, New Verse News, Minerva Rising, Pilgrimage, Pinestraw, and Conclave. She is also the author of Pandora, Let’s Talk.
Brady, who also lives in Pinehurst, is a wildlife biologist working in the Sandhills region of the state. He holds a degree in Wildlife Science from North Carolina State University and utilizes his skill as a photographer to capture the unique habitats and animals he encounters in his daily field work. Several of Brady’s amazing wildlife photographs are carried by One of a Kind Gallery and will be available for viewing.
The event is open to the public, but space is limited. Guests are encouraged to arrive close to the starting time of 4:30. Wine and light refreshments will be served. There is no charge for attending.
