Gallery Updates and Hours

Dear Friends,We hope you are all safe and well!

Until further notice, the Gallery has limited hours for take-out and pick up. We are open Tuesday through Saturdays, from 2:30 until 6:30 p.m. Please browse this website, our Facebook pages, and Instagram, and if you see something you’d like, we’ll have it ready to be picked up at the store, or take it curbside in front of the Gallery (or the parking lot close to the Theatre building), gloves on!

This is a good time to connect to family and friends via the written word, and the Gallery has a lovely assortment of artisan cards (singles and packs). Check out some of these samples!

We appreciate your support of local and small businesses during this challenging time. Please take good care of yourselves!

All the best,

One of a Kind Gallery

Opening Day is Tuesday March 10

When asked why he was so arrogant about his work, Frank Lloyd Wright said that he could be either dishonestly humble or honestly arrogant…or something to that effect.  Without a shred of dishonesty, I think I can honestly say, the new gallery is gorgeous.  The array of artwork, while varied to include virtually every media, is consistent in the fact that it is all beautiful, intriguing, breathtaking, amazing, and all other superlatives! Our artists are among the best the area has to offer.

Can you tell I am excited?  Please stop in, and you will understand my enthusiasm.

New Tools, Fresh Ideas by Kenneth Forte

In the past few months, I’ve lamented at having to invest in some new tools as those that had served me for well over 30 years merely stopped working.  But the latest equipment comes with wonderful upgrades; safety features, better lighting, the ease with height adjustments, and digital measurements for spot-on accuracy.

As I’ve mastered this machinery, I’ve been inspired to create new pieces of art in the form of hinged & turned boxes.  They are designed in a variety of sizes and combinations of domestic, rare and imported hardwoods.  Some of the woods may sound familiar, like North Carolina wormy holly or curly cherry and others are made of rare world hardwoods, thuya burl and black and white ebony.

As with all my work, the pieces are original, one of a kind, and therefore no duplicates.  One of my goals is to show the magnificence, natural colors and distinctiveness of the woods through my artistic eyes.  There are no artificial finishes and the sheen on the woods is due to hand polishing to enhance the natural beauty.
