CAROL PEAO CURRIER
Pinehurst, North Carolina
Carol arrived in Pinehurst about 12 years ago to care for her aging parents, and, fortunately for us, she is still here. The mother of three girls, she has had a lifetime of working with fibers. She specializes in crewel embroidery, surface embroidery, raised embroidery, original fiber art, and custom design. Carol is currently one of the partners in an area needlework shop: Moore than Needlepoint on Linden Road in Pinehurst.
Carol has been extremely active in local and national needlework organizations. She served on the national board of the Embroiderers’ Guild of America (EGA) for eight years, where she served as president. She is currently EGA’s chairman of the Master Craftsman Program in crewel embroidery. Among her many accomplishments, Carol had her original design, Fleur, chosen for the Traveling Exhibit sponsored by the EGA; it traveled for three years throughout the United States. We are thrilled to have it on display in One of a Kind Gallery! After 55 years of stitching, Carol says she is still amazed at the power of the art expressed through a needle and thread.
