Merry Scotland, Aberdeen, NC
Artist Merry Scotland, born in northern Vermont, has had a lifelong interest in animals, especially horses and dogs. Years ago, she began painting, drawing, and sculpting the animals so important in her life. Her earliest works were executed in pen and ink, and she quickly progressed to acrylics before moving on to full figure portraits. Merry soon became interested in other art forms, including sculptures in bronze and clay, ceramic designs, architectural tile designs, and most recently jewelry.
Certain subjects, such as carousels, polo matches, race horses and African wildlife have been particularly appealing to Merry, and have been the subjects of her treatment from many different perspectives in various media.
Merry’s work is included in private collections around the world, including Alfred Vanderbilt and Oleg Cassini. She makes her home in Aberdeen, NC
