Pinehurst, North Carolina
Rich Flanegan was born in Uniontown, Pennsylvania, and lived most of his life at the Jersey Shore, specifically in Cape May, New Jersey. He earned a Bachelor of Arts degree, with a major in art. Rich has painted all of his life, working mainly in oils and pastels. He is a versatile painter, having used many media and focused on many subjects, but his favorites – and most successful – paintings have been those focusing on landscapes and seascapes. His goal is to capture a moment in time: a sky, a wave, a shadow. This is evident from his beautiful paintings in One of a Kind Gallery.
Rich has taught students of all ages, many of whom have gone on to be award winning artists. For 20 years, prior to moving to Pinehurst in 2017, Rich and his wife, Diane, used their Victorian home in Cape May as a gallery, frame shop and classroom for instruction. He was also represented in several other area galleries. Shortly after his move to Moore County, Rich won the 2017 Lee Barrett People’s Choice Award at the Arts Council of Moore County annual show.
